   Debit cards are so easy to use, aren’t they? Sometimes I think going to straight cash would reduce my spending a lot. Good look on making progress.

   We’ve gone to straight cash and it has been awesome. Starting to do something is better than doing nothing at all, you know how much debt you have which is a lot more than many people can say.

   Life is tough. But everything happens for a reason. You seem to be on the right track in thinking about your future. I agree with you that a budget is key. In fact, I’ve just committed to completing a draft of my budget by the end of the weekend. I plan to post it on my blog on Monday.

   Why don’t you make the commitment too? It may help things look a little brighter.

   And one more thing…things always seem to have a way of working out.

   I too am suffering from student loan debt!! I graduated in April with a Master’s Degree in Accounting!! I have 3 times the debt you have!!!

   Just yesterday I sold my 2 yr old car and (no more payments) bought an older car for cash and paid off a credit card with the rest of the money!! Guess what that did! It took off $600 a month in bills!!! WOO HOO!!

   I refinnaced all of the student loans I had with Wells Fargo and Sallie Mae because they had my interest rates at 18%. They would not refinance them because I had way to much debt! So I took out a HELOC and the interest rate is 7.75%.

   So, if I can see a brighter future… So you can you…

   I love my debt. I used to try to fathom why my future seemed destined to hold a lonely little apartment and cats. My cynical, pessimistic, sarcastic personality? Or perhaps that extra softness around the center?

   Now I sigh with relief, I have my reason for eternal spinster-loneliness, tacked on relatively late though it is:

   I would never, ever marry someone, therefore subjecting him to my debt, especially my student loan debt! Hooray for finally looking at the bright side of things for a change.

   Scuse me, I need to go away to someplace quiet and contemplate gnawing on the business end of a 45…
